Welcome to the Computation & Cognition Lab at KAIST AI. Our mission is to advance AI by combining computational methods with insights derived from human cognition and development, particularly those rooted in social cognition. We believe humans are set apart by our ability to efficiently learn from others and share knowledge through social interaction. Drawing inspiration from this, we explore how machines can understand, reason, learn, and interact through language in diverse environments that require social intelligence—powered by brighter algorithms and sharper data, ultimately bending the scaling curve.

Our current research interests include (but are not limited to):

• Reasoning in social contexts and knowledge-intensive contexts.
• Scalable learning through data synthesis and curriculum.
• Systematic evaluation of cognitive behaviors in foundation models.
• Agents engaging in social interactions in various environments (e.g., chat and games).
