Hyunwoo Kim is an incoming Assistant Professor at KAIST AI, where he will lead the Computation & Cognition Lab. He is interested in building machines capable of reasoning and cognition, by taking an interdisciplinary approach by connecting AI and cognitive science. In particular, he investigates how to distill insights from human cognition into models for reasoning. His current research centers on general reasoning capabilities of large language models. Hyunwoo has presented his work in top-tier NLP and AI conferences, and has won the Outstanding Paper Award at EMNLP. Currently, Hyunwoo is a postdoctoral researcher working with Yejin Choi at NVIDIA. Prior to this, he was a Young Investigator at the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence (Ai2). He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science at Seoul National University advised by Gunhee Kim and B.S. in Psychology & Computer Science at Yonsei University in Korea.
